Teens Try Swapping Smartphones For Flip Phones

CBS News challenged four eighth graders in New Jersey to trade their smartphones in for flip phones for one week. One of their friends, 14-year-old Ben Cohen Vigder, has had a flip phone now for nearly a year and says it’s been a game-changer for him. But how did his friends do? One couldn’t last 24 hours, but others reported finishing homework faster and better sleep. Will they make the switch permanently? Probably not, but it was an eye-opening experience that taught them to dial their screentime back.

Studies show kids ages 12-17 with phones on average spent 4 or more hours a day on their screens. Today looked at what that screen time could do to kids’ brains.
